A friend of mine, a product manager, recently lent me a wonderful book on User Experience (UX) design, “Don’t Make Me Think” by Steve Krug. Although it’s not exactly a new book, its central idea changed how I approach web design – if people have to ‘think’ to use your website, they’ll head elsewhere, likely to a competitor’s site that just makes sense.

This insight perfectly captures what I see every day in my work. Your website isn’t just a brochure, it’s the first and often only opportunity to build trust and guide someone towards becoming a customer. 

That’s why budget website builders worry me. They often ignore how human brains actually make decisions. Poor website design might be costing you customers, and you may not even realise it. From misaligned layouts to confusing navigation, these small design issues have a big psychological impact.
